Division Information for Basketball
Instructional Division
- The sole purpose of the Instructional Division is to develop the skills of the youngest players in Glen Allen Basketball
- Instructional is for ages 6 and 7 only, and is the only co-ed league in Glen Allen
- All play will be on an eight foot basket and a women's basketball (28.5") will be used
- No score will be kept. Coaches will referee their own games
- There will be no playoffs in the Instructional Division
- Scores will be kept, fouls called, and team standings reported on the website
- Single elimination tournament held the last two weekends of the season
- All games played on a regulation 10 foot rim with a women's basketball (28.5")
- Games consist of four six minute quarters. Substitutions occur halfway through each quarter
- Free throws will be taken from a spot 13 feet out or 2 feet inside the regulation foul line
- In addition to what is noted in Girls 8s and 9s:
- Full-court pressure is only allowed in the final quarter of regulation (and in the final minute of overtime)
- Free throws will be taken from the regulation foul line
- In addition to what is noted in Girls 10s and 11s:
- Full-court pressure is allowed in the entire second half (and all of any overtime)
- Free throws will be taken from the regulation foul line with violations being enforced by the referee
- In addition to what is noted in Girls 12s and 13s:
- Full-court pressure is allowed in the entire game
