Age Cut Off for Softbal l: December 31st (This date is set by Babe Ruth, not Glen Allen) 2010 Softball Update
First off, I wish to congratulate everyone on a fun filled successful regular season for 2010.
Congratulations to our 8U, 10U, 12U and 16U All Star teams, each of them won the title of District Champions and won a berth to the State Play-offs which was hosted by Varina and played at Dorey Park. Our 8U and 10U won the title of State Champs and headed to Altamonte Springs, Florida for the Southeast Regional Tournament. Although the girls didn't place in the SER, it was a wonderful experience and a great time for everyone that participated!! We would like to extend a great big thanks to our parents, grandparents, siblings, and anyone else that may have supported our girls through team support, donations and other contributions. Without you guys our trip would not have been successful! Thanks again! Believe it or not, we are now planning for our 2010 Fall Season. Our numbers are extremely low this fall, having only one team in each of our age groups, except for 10U, we have two. I know those that participated in the fall season last year were a bit disappointed by the travel but we really had no options due to the last minute push to allow the girls to play somewhere. This year we are combining efforts with leagues closer to us such as Rockville, Beaverdam and possibly Ashland. In order to go back to inter-league play and stay at RF&P, we must have at least four teams in each age group. Thus the need to play outside of GAYAA. We will also be attempting single games this year versus double headers. This will allow a more flexible schedule for our families on Sunday afternoons. There is still time to sign up as registration goes through August 23. Please spread the word about fall registration and hope to see you soon! Lisa Harris
